We've Been Slacking.....
but we've been really busy. The electric work is complete. Just waiting on the Pepsi fountain to be installed. Also the sandwich prep cabinet is needing work. Hopefully both get taken care of soon! Pepsi said within 3 weeks, which would be August 12/13 per the day they came to look things over. Ice cream toppings are on the way and this week we will be ordering ice cream and the other stuff for sandwiches etc. Coffee (lattes) stuff is here and waiting patiently.

We're Nearly Finished!
The floor is almost finished! We just have the section under the pool table to scrape and paint. That will be completed next week.
We had our gray water system installed last week. Running water and a drainage system.
We have electric work yet to be done, a little painting and other little things that are last minute. Apply for a food license and order food. We are getting so close! We are excited! We can't wait to see everyone again.

More Floor Work and Fountain Critters
We made some major floor progress this past week 11 squares total! We have been averaging 3-4 a week. WOO! Puts us right at or a few squares over half way. Next step after the floor is the plumbing in the kitchen up front and the electric work up front. Our new target date, since April 1 has already slipped past, is June 1st. WE can do this! We WILL do this!
I've wanted to add something to the fountain. It was just so plain. I found these cuties at the dollar store. Me Froggy and Me Turtle. Aren't they just adorable!
The weekend MTG at Cosmic Castle we will be hosting 2 Headed Giant for Friday Night Magic and Shadows over Innistrad Game Day on Saturday.

Kitchen Progress Update
Since we decided to take the carpet up we have been making progress on getting the floor painted. Scraping the carpet glue up is sometimes a pain but it has to come up. This past week we painted right in front of the door
and we also secured one of the bars and put some bar stools out.
We are getting there. It's coming along slowly.

It's been almost a year!
Yes I can believe We have neglected to keep the blog up. Does that mean we have been busy? Yes, it does. Here is a quick highlight of the past year.
We got off to a rough start in our new building. Everything was going good until we turned the water on. We ended up with a water leak under the sidewalk. Yes, on our side of the meter. Finally got that fixed.
During the summer we started hosting "The Portal" which is sponsored by Chris and Melinda. The Portal is a time for young adults (teen to early 20's) can come in and enjoy spending tome together playing games, chit chatting, and having fun.
In August we got set up with Wizards of the Coast to sell Magic the Gathering cards, decks, etc. We hosted our first ever prerelese in October. It was a grand event! We just made the requirements just in time. Our Wizards rep was quite impressed with our numbers considering the size of our town and that we were an arcade. :-)
In October we participated in the Monster March. Handed out a lot of candy to the local kids.
In December we participated in the Christmas Parade......and came away with an honorable mention with our "PacMan Fever" entry.
Since then, we have been working on temporary kitchen up front. It will be a while until we can get the back fixed the way we want it to have our dream kitchen. We will share more about that in our next post.

It's Looking Presentable
The first games of pool, in the new building, were played by Josh and Steve a few nights ago.
Progress being made to a "secret area". The goal is to have this area open to the public for gaming.
Things are almost ready for you to come play these games and pool, at the new building. We plan to have it open Monday-Thursday evenings while we are working over there. Watch our Facebook page or Twitter for evenings and times these games are available.

Happy New Year!
Yesterday we made our first payment on the new building. Only 179 more to go. Not much has changed in the way of visible progress. We have been working on the storage area in the kitchen a little. Mostly though we have been working on cleaning out the stuff upstairs so we have room for storage. Once we can get a few things stored upstairs we will have the games that are already over there available to play some of the nights we are working over there. Our target opening date for the new building, with food and all games, is April 1st. No foolin'. ;-) We may be open before then with all the games and no food.....just have to see what happens.

Building Progress
Oh dear the stuff was just put in there where ever. It was a disaster! Good thing they left a path.
We spent a night moving things and putting them in some sort of order so we could move around easier.
We have also started work in the new kitchen area
Here is a "mystery area". No it's not a basement, but we have big plans for this area in the future.

New Building Update #2
After Thanksgiving we acquired some help to get our back room cleaned out. Most of the games in there went to the new building to be stored for now. Some games were brought up front.
our back-up ice cream freezer was moved
and our rocket was moved.
Things are looking good!

New Building Update!
So no news is good news right? I'm sure you're wanting to know all about the new building. Well here's the scoop. The new building is at 110 South 18th Street in Parsons, KS. It's just south of our current location by half a block, and across the street. At this time it looks like we will be able to stay open at 1800 Main for a couple more months. At least until we need the kitchen equipment moved to set up our new kitchen.
We got the keys to the building on November 24th
Here are a few before pictures, before we had the electric turned on:
Here are a couple more after we turned electric on. Rooms you couldn't see in the dark.
Our plans are to build a kitchen in the back (the green room), have the games in the middle and the sitting/dining area in the front.

Some Excellent News!
We are excited! We have found and are purchasing a building in Downtown Parsons, for Cosmic Castle. No it's not the one we are currently in. We are asking for your help! We are using our Token Cards as a way to help generate extra income for the move/building/etc. The cards don't expire, and you can use them even while we are moving into our new place. We do plan to be open and have the games available. The best part......everything will be in the SAME ROOM!
Cards are available at Cosmic Castle, Steve's Lock Out (1806 Main, just a couple doors west), and from our website.
On November 1st, we will be joining other small businesses, crafters, and more at the old Arron's building (out by save-a-lot, in Parsons) for the Holiday Shopping Spree from 9am to 4pm.
Watch here and on our Facebook page. We will be updating both (Facebook probably more often than the blog) with pictures and progress.

You're invited to our 4th Birthday Party!
Yep that's right we have been in Downtown Parsons for almost 4 years! We opened on Sunday October 9, 2011 at 3:30pm. People were lined up at the door waiting on us to open!
We spent 2 months and 2 days painting and building and creating the most fun atmosphere in Parsons.
Here is a glimpse of what the building looked like before we took over. This was the day after we brought the tables and chairs in.
Here is a view from that balcony you see at the top, looking the opposite direction.
We have added a lot more since that day. If you want to see our "The Making of Cosmic Castle" photos, they are available on our Facebook Page. Sometime I will add it to our Google pictures.
We hope you can make it! We are celebrating on Saturday October 11. We have cupcakes planned.....and we're still planning.

April Survey Results
Well it has been a while since I've posted. May 7th to be exact. Summer got here and we got busy. I know, not a good excuse at all, but hey, it's the best I can come up with.
It seems to be a constant struggle to get the word out. Which social media do most of you hang out on? How do you prefer to receive notifications? Back in April I posted a survey on how you would like to connect. I never did post the results, and to be quite honest, besides Facebook and Twitter (everything from FB goes to Twitter and Twitter to FB) I haven't done much at all. The choices for connecting were:
Facebook, Google+, Twitter, Web page/Blog, and E-Mail. Out of those options, Facebook was on top and Twitter, Web Page/Blog and E-mail, all tied for 2nd. Google+ came in next to last and Foursquare only had 1 vote, so it was thrown out.
So here is the plan, It's fall, things should start to slow down a little, right? My goal is to post more here, which will be shared to G+, then share the post to Fcebook or Twitter, which will share to the other. E-mail will have to wait for now.
Since Facebook has made so many changes, it's harder to get the word out. They want us to pay to promote our posts, which isn't as effective as you might think. We have tried that before, and didn't see much of a positive effect.
Do you have any other suggestions on ways to connect?
