We've Been Slacking.....

but we've been really busy.  The electric work is complete.  Just waiting on the Pepsi fountain to be installed.  Also the sandwich prep cabinet is needing work.  Hopefully both get taken care of soon!  Pepsi said within 3 weeks, which would be August 12/13 per the day they came to look things over.  Ice cream toppings are on the way and this week we will be ordering ice cream and the other stuff for sandwiches etc.  Coffee (lattes) stuff is here and waiting patiently.

We're Nearly Finished!

The floor is almost finished!  We just have the section under the pool table to scrape and paint.  That will be completed next week.

We had our gray water system installed last week.  Running water and a drainage system.

We have electric work yet to be done, a little painting and other little things that are last minute.  Apply for a food license and order food.  We are getting so close!  We are excited!  We can't wait to see everyone again.

Kitchen Progress Update

Since we decided to take the carpet up we have been making progress on getting the floor painted.  Scraping the carpet glue up is sometimes a pain but it has to come up.  This past week we painted right in front of the door

and we also secured one of the bars and put some bar stools out.

We are getting there.  It's coming along slowly.

Moving Along

We are still saving for the electric work we will need done for the kitchen. In the mean time we have decided to take up all the carpet and paint the floor. #1 It will probably make the Health Inspector happier when they come to approve our restaurant license request. #2 Might as well do it now instead of later so there isn't any reason to close down later. #3 It will look and smell better in the long run. #4 It will be easier to keep clean and clean up any spills or messes. I could go on but I think you understand. For the next few weeks, please be patient with the mess and the dust. Eventually it's gonna be.....WOW.....in here. How can you help? We are saving aluminum cans. Bring a bag of aluminum cans (during business hours please) and be entered in a drawing for a free sandwich, once the kitchen is open. Come play arcade games. Come play Magic the Gathering, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Dungeons & Dragons and purchase gaming cards, dice, sleeves, etc from us. You can also subscribe to our YouTube Channel. Watch and "LIKE" our videos (we plan to have a how to video out later this week).

Here are some pictures of  the carpet removal process.  We hope to have it all up by Thursday.

over half way here

most all of this was dirt swept up from under one section of carpet we removed.

Thanks for stopping by!  Don't forget to check out our YouTube channel!

It's been almost a year!

Yes I can believe We have neglected to keep the blog up.  Does that mean we have been busy?  Yes, it does.  Here is a quick highlight of the past year.

We got off to a rough start in our new building.  Everything was going good until we turned the water on.  We ended up with a water leak under the sidewalk.  Yes, on our side of the meter.  Finally got that fixed.

During the summer we started hosting "The Portal" which is sponsored by Chris and Melinda.  The Portal is a time for young adults (teen to early 20's) can come in and enjoy spending tome together playing games, chit chatting, and having fun.

In August we got set up with Wizards of the Coast to sell Magic the Gathering cards, decks, etc.  We hosted our first ever prerelese in October.  It was a grand event!  We just made the requirements just in time.  Our Wizards rep was quite impressed with our numbers considering the size of our town and that we were an arcade.  :-)

In October we participated in the Monster March.  Handed out a lot of candy to the local kids.

In December we participated in the Christmas Parade......and came away with an honorable mention with our "PacMan Fever" entry.

Did you see our video of Then and Now?  If you haven't here it is.  Pictures of the building right after we got it and pictures 1 year later.

Since then, we have been working on  temporary kitchen up front.  It will be a while until we can get the back fixed the way we want it to have our dream kitchen.  We will share more about that in our next post.

What A Mess!

What a Mess!  Last Sunday we finished moving the big stuff to the new building.  Thanks a bunch to the family and friends who came to help.  We moved everything while it was snowing.

The Bars.....that's where they will be permanently.

One of the guys helping brought a trailer.  That was a HUGE help.  It made many trips in to few.  WE were able to move the bars much easier.

and the shelving from the kitchen/storeroom area.  Not to mention we piled boxes on there and much much more.  Assembly lines were common.  Teamwork!

Good Bye 1800 Main!  Thank you for giving us a start.  Next chapter is 110 South 18th Street (just a half a block south and on the left).  We can't WAIT to be open!  Lots of fun things planned while we work on the kitchen, and once we get the kitchen ready......Look Out Parsons, it's going to be AWESOME!

More progress

The "secret room" isn't so secret anymore.  You can see it's location from down below.  It's still a ways from being finished and accessible.

Current new spot for our rocket!

At the new building we will not be serving our regular menu at first.  There are regulations with the Kansas Department of Agriculture on what can and can't be served without a restaurant license.    We can serve a limited amount of prepackaged foods though.  This is part of our "temporary new kitchen".  We will have our drinks refrigerated and we also have some other treats that aren't pictured.

Friday February 20 will be our last day open at 1800 Main

Watch our Facebook Page, our Twitter, g+, or sign up for our newsletter on our web page for announcement of when we will be opening at our new location,
110 South 18th Street

Just down to the necessities

Just down to the necessities now.  Much of our decor has been taken down and moved.  Plumbing has been fixed and water should be on at the new building tonight.  For now we only have a toilet, but that's better than nothing right?  We will have to tear out a wall or part of a wall to fix the broken water lines that go to the bathroom sink.  That hopefully will be done by February 21st for our Sock Hop.

We have started stocking our pre-packaged foods and canned/bottled sodas at the new building.  Starting out we won't be able to serve our menu, because we don't have the new kitchen built yet.  However we will have GAMES!  We will be all moved, by March 1st, if not a little before then.  When we get all moved, we will be open in the evenings.  Watch for more details.

Estimated 5 Ton removed from new building

We finally have the upstairs cleaned out!  Now we have room to store some of the "not often used" things like the Coffin and the Throne of Bone, and some things you've never seen before.  LOL!
We have recycled a lot of the metal stuff that was up there, which totaled about 2 Ton.  We rented a big roll-off dumpster for the non recyclables, and it weighed in at 1.9 Ton.  We estimate probably another Ton worth of just trash and other things that we could put in the regular dumpster.  So an estimated 5 TON of junk and stuff taken out of the upstairs.  The building is probably feeling much better.

Here are a couple of the floors we [literally] uncovered.  They look AMAZING!  We will be storing the extra things in these 2 rooms (that we cleaned the floors in) for now.

More progress downstairs as well.  This is more of that "secret room"  We have the wall frames up and a door installed.  Next will be Sheetrock.

We do have a Sock Hop coming up on the 21st of February.  You can view our Event and let us know you are coming, or planning on coming either on g+ or on Facebook.  We will be updating with the final information real soon.

And this is something neat we found upstairs cleaning.  It's the Top 40 for the week of January 7, 1968.  Our new building used to be Newkirk's Music Store.  This was in a record bag, and both are in really good shape.

Pre-Packaged

At the new building when we are opening in the evenings, we can sell pre-packaged foods and drinks.  We have some of these items available for sale at our current location as well.  Cinnamon rolls and chocolate chip m&m cookies.  We also have hot & spicy chex mix and chocolate caramel chex mix.

From the Back Looking Forward

I know doesn't look very interesting, but this is taken from the very back where we are putting the kitchen. The area I'm standing taking the picture will be storage, and the other side of the light will be a future gaming area (the "secret area" mentioned in a previous post) and a employee break room area. See we have been doing something, just nothing really exciting yet.  We have peen putting up framing for walls.  We have added a few future plug-in locations in the new kitchen area (directly below where I was standing) and we have some insulation ordered we are putting in the new kitchen, that should be in early next week.

One day at a time.  This is a work in progress. :-)

We hope to have the front area open a couple week day evenings this next week so everyone can come in and play their other favorite games like Star Wars Racing, Drift, Tokyo Wars, the Pool Table and others.  We will post on our Facebook Page as well as sending out an e-newsletter letting people know what days/times we plan to have the new building open.  We will also have a few snacks available while you play.

It's Looking Presentable

The first games of pool, in the new building, were played by Josh and Steve a few nights ago.

Progress being made to a "secret area".  The goal is to have this area open to the public for gaming.

Things are almost ready for you to come play these games and pool, at the new building.  We plan to have it open Monday-Thursday evenings while we are working over there.  Watch our Facebook page or Twitter for evenings and times these games are available.

Happy New Year!

Yesterday we made our first payment on the new building.  Only 179 more to go.  Not much has changed in the way of visible progress.  We have been working on the storage area in the kitchen a little.  Mostly though we have been working on cleaning out the stuff upstairs so we have room for storage.  Once we can get a few things stored upstairs we will have the games that are already over there available to play some of the nights we are working over there.  Our target opening date for the new building, with food and all games, is April 1st.  No foolin'.  ;-)   We may be open before then with all the games and no food.....just have to see what happens.

Beginning Monday January 5th we will have new hours as follows:
NEW HOURS beginning Sunday January 5, 2015:
Sunday 2:30 - 9:00
Monday Closed
Tuesday - Thursday 11:00 - 5:00
Friday - Saturday 11:00 - 10:00

These new hours will give us time to work harder on the new building, getting it ready for YOU to enjoy.  Of course it will always be a work in progress.

Also we have moved our Chicken Noodle Dinner to Friday evenings.

A Little More

Oh dear I'm terrible on keeping up.  We haven't done a whole lot lately.  Well we have, but not downstairs that makes much difference.  We have done a lot of cleaning upstairs, making room for storage.  Downstairs we have been working in the back (kitchen area) taking out some old plumbing and taking down the old nasty ceiling tiles.

Yesterday (Christmas day) we did make a hole in the wall.  No worries, it's all good, we meant to put it there.  We have plans for a bigger hole there some day, but for now it will help get a little more heat to the very back.

We also started arranging games a little better, and putting some of them back together and plugging some in.

2015 is coming.  It will be here in about a week.  We are looking forward to the changes at Cosmic Castle!  We hope you are too.

Building Progress

Oh dear the stuff was just put in there where ever.  It was a disaster!  Good thing they left a path.

We spent a night moving things and putting them in some sort of order so we could move around easier.

We have also started work in the new kitchen area

Here is a "mystery area".  No it's not a basement, but we have big plans for this area in the future.

New Building Update #2

After Thanksgiving we acquired some help to get our back room cleaned out.  Most of the games in there went to the new building to be stored for now.  Some games were brought up front.

our back-up ice cream freezer was moved

and our rocket was moved.

Things are looking good!

New Building Update!

So no news is good news right?  I'm sure you're wanting to know all about the new building.  Well here's the scoop.  The new building is at 110 South 18th Street in Parsons, KS.  It's just south of our current location by half a block, and across the street.  At this time it looks like we will be able to stay open at 1800 Main for a couple more months.  At least until we need the kitchen equipment moved to set up our new kitchen.

We got the keys to the building on November 24th

Here are a few before pictures, before we had the electric turned on:

Here are a couple more after we turned electric on.  Rooms you couldn't see in the dark.

Our plans are to build a kitchen in the back (the green room), have the games in the middle and the sitting/dining area in the front.
